In a company release published yesterday, Desjardins Group revealed that it has made a $100,000 donation toward flood relief for victims of the recent catastrophe in several areas across Canada.

The insurance company made its contribution to the Canadian Red Cross, which will use the money to help displaced households find shelter in nearby hotels, secure food and potable water for flood victims, purchase clothing, and fund recovery assistance (clean-up materials, household repair costs, furniture replacement), among other things.

Desjardins also said in a statement that the company is enabling both employees and the public to make donations to the Red Cross using its AccèsD online and phone services. Residents of Quebec and Ontario may also use Desjardins’ caisses to pledge support to relief efforts.

“Desjardins stands in solidarity with the victims of the heavy rain and spring flooding and with the affected communities,” a company release read. “The Desjardins General Insurance Group claims teams are working hard to provide quick support to members and clients who are affected by water damage.”
