A new magazine will arrive on the Canadian insurance landscape next month, packing a pedigree of years of experience and a familiar name.

“These are exciting days here with the launch of Insurance Business Canada,” says Tim Duce, president and CEO of KMI Publishing and Events in Toronto. “Considering the success of InsuranceBusiness.ca, we are moving forward to produce a magazine that will be as essential to our readers as the website has become. And I can’t think of a better way to launch Insurance Business magazine than with an exclusive interview of Sir Richard Branson as our cover feature.”

Included with the Branson cover story is an exclusive one-on-one interview with Martin Hughes, the CEO of Hub International, along with interviews of major players like Sharon Ludlow, president and CEO of Swiss Re, on the year’s hot topic – flood insurance.

“The magazine will be a reflection of the insurance industry, of what is happening today and where the market is headed,” says Duce. “From the largest companies to the mom and pop brokerages underwriting insurance in their home town, Insurance Business Canada magazine will be the heartbeat of the community.”

The October launch of the magazine – which is free to industry professionals – will be followed up with an in-depth look of the Top 30 Elite Brokers in Canada in the December issue – an opportunity that the Associate Publisher of KMI Publishing and Events Trevor Biggs says will allow the nation’s best insurance brokers to strut their stuff. “Brokers will have a chance to gain the recognition for their hard work throughout the year,” says Biggs. “It is a great way to give your business a boost and to ensure that all the major insurers and underwriters know who you are. It is a great third-party endorsement that will benefit in your marketing to new and existing clients.”

Understanding the client, better branding and maximizing the returns from your virtual storefront are just a few of the stories that are included in the October issue.

KMI Publishing and Events boasts a family of successful products, including Canadian Real Estate Wealth and Canadian Mortgage Professional magazines. With those magazines and complementary websites, the combined potential reach in readership is almost 90,000 people.

Complementing the Canadian reach of Insurance Business magazine is the well-established Insurance Business Australia and IB's American cousin, newcomer Insurance Business U.S.

"Our presence in the Canadian market is strong, but we have the global reach of our Australian and American insurance products - both online and in print - that gives us unparalleled expertise in the insurance industry," Duce points out.

The magazine will allow a more in-depth look at how insurance is being sold today, and what competitors are doing to capture clients in an ever-growing competitive market, adds Biggs.

As the magazine moves toward a bimonthly cycle in 2014, plans are already underway on developing cover features on the industry’s Hot Products, Top 10 Brokerages and input from our readers in the anticipated Brokers on Insurers. (continued.)

“KMI has a strong tradition of creating magazines that tap into what is current in the industry, from our experience with CMP magazine for mortgage brokers and Canadian Real Estate Wealth,” says Duce. “Our approach has always been to create a quality product that will set the standard for the industry.”
