AXA XL is addressing the continued demand for commercial bonds by appointing Cedric Franklin as VP, regional director of commercial bonds in Canada.

As regional director of commercial bonds in Canada, Franklin will lead the continued growth of the commercial bonds business in the country, by partnering with Canadian clients and their brokers. Franklin will be based in Toronto for his new role and will work with AXA XL head of specialty insurance for Canada Alex Barker, as well as global head of commercial bonds Pat Dougherty.

Franklin joins AXA XL from BFL Canada, where he served as vice president of surety. He has a degree in civil law from the University of Ottawa, a master’s in International & European Relations from the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands and an MBA from the Grande École E.M Grenoble, France.

"We are very excited to expand our commercial bond expertise in Canada,” said AXA XL country manager Renato Rodrigues. “Cedric's specialized background will be of great service to our growing business while we continue to strengthen existing relationships with clients and brokers from both the public and private sectors."

"Cedric is an expert in his field and an excellent addition to our team of talented specialty insurance leaders. He will be working closely with our key brokers, banks and investors who see the unique growth opportunities that commercial bonds provide,” commented Alex Barker.

For the first half of 2022, AXA XL parent company AXA reported that its gross revenues rose to €55 billion (approx. CA$72.08 billion), up 1% from H1 2021’s €53.8 billion. Its P&C business revenue increased year-over-year by 1% €29.3 billion, with commercial lines revenues up 1% from last year to €19.7 billion.
