Alberta-based Harmony, specialist broker in commercial lines insurance for small businesses and personal insurance solutions, has been acquired by global insurance brokerage Hub International Ltd. it was announced yesterday. The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Despite its headquarters in the city of Hinton – a base from which it has achieved steady growth since its 1977 founding – the small brokerage says on its website: “we find that we are also serving our clients as they move to other towns and cities across the province of Alberta. And more than that, we are getting more referrals from out of town each week.”

For Hub’s part, the Chicago-headquartered broker, consistently rated as one of the world’s largest, “is committed to growing organically and through acquisitions to expand its geographic footprint and strengthen industry and product expertise,” according to a company statement released with the announcement.
