Arshil Jamal is leaving Great-West Lifeco after more than 25 years.

In its announcement, the parent firm of Canada Life said Jamal is retiring from his position as president and group head of strategy, investments, reinsurance, and corporate development.

The major departure will see president and Europe chief operating officer David Harney take on expanded accountabilities, including the capital & risk solutions segment, from February 16.

“Over the course of his career with Lifeco, Arshil has made significant contributions to our success and set the stage for continued growth,” Great-West Lifeco president and chief executive Paul Mahon said in a release.

“On behalf of the board of directors and our entire organization, I want to thank Arshil for his commitment to our company, colleagues, and our customers.”

Jamal’s previous roles include COO for Europe and reinsurance.
