An individual masquerading as a broker is using a popular Canadian banking brand to peddle false auto insurance in Ontario.

The Financial Services Commission of Ontario (FSCO) has issued a warning that Hendrickson TD Insurance and an individual known as Mr. Yeme are not licensed to do insurance business in Ontario.

According to FSCO, “the individual appears to be selling false auto insurance under the company Hendrickson TD Insurance. The individual also provided a phone number, 647-461-5540 and has been communicating via text messaging.”

Hendrickson TD Insurance is not affiliated or associated with TD General Insurance Company or TD Home and Auto Insurance Company, which are licensed by FSCO.

Brokers are urged to remind clients that they should exercise caution if they are contacted by anyone using the phone number, name or under the company name Hendrickson TD Insurance.

It was only a month ago that FSCO posted an insurance-related scam identifying Gelisa Watson as selling false  auto insurance.

According to FSCO, at the time it appeared that “a fraudulent liability slip was issued by the individual showing Buckley Insurance Brokers Ltd. As the broker, and the Dominion of Canada General Insurance Company as the insurer.”
