Should brokers start a campaign for their clients to protect their power tools?
Work tools rank third among a Top 10 list of things stolen from people’s cars, and second among a Top 10 list of objects stolen from people’s homes.
This might make somewhat more sense if you consider that by ‘home,’ the survey includes garages, which is where many people will leave their tools lying around. And in many instances, the garages will be left unlocked.
But interestingly enough, car thieves were much more likely to swipe power tools from the cars than cash, and power tools were even a more popular target than jewellery when it came to home theft.
Smart phones were the Number 1 item taken from cars, and yet didn’t even make the Top 10 list of objects stolen from the home.
Personal electronics were second on the list of items stolen from cars, and finished in the sixth (laptops) and ninth (iPods and iPads) spots on the list of top stolen items from homes.
