As it focuses in on offering customers a digital vision, MCE has taken the decision to introduce a new role at board level.

The motorbike specialist insurer has welcomed Paul Ormiston (pictured) as claims director, assuming responsibility for the firm’s claims handling process. He boasts more than 25 years of industry experience and was recently global head of claims performance and governance for QBE.

Now, he is set to seize control of the claims function – looking at driving savings for the business and providing a faster claims experience for customers.

“MCE has the tech to transform customer satisfaction at the point when they need it most – when they have a claim. I’m excited to be given the opportunity to lead the development of that process,” he said.

“Having spoken with (MCE’s CEO) Julian Edwards, it was clear to me that the board had already identified that the business must become a true insurtech, and that a clearly defined claims automation strategy would be a central tenant of this evolution. I’m very excited to have that remit as my responsibility. It’s an opportunity to have a real impact on a forward-thinking business.”

Meanwhile, Edwards outlined that the creation of the role was a strategic decision.

“The bottom line is, that in the event of a claim, the customer should expect a best-in-class service,” he said. “Paul brings to the table extensive experience in creating and managing claims automation strategies, and we are excited by the impact we know he can have on the business.”
