Marsh’s aviation team is hoping to soar after bringing in a new managing director within its UK aviation practice.

That man is Mark Walters, who will report to UK chairman and CEO of aviation at Marsh JLT Specialty, Andy Smith. Walters is set to provide insurance and risk advisory services to aerospace clients after returning to the firm after a stint with Gallagher, where he was an executive director in its aviation division. Walters was previously with Marsh from 1990-2009.

“I look forward to working with Marsh’s colleagues in the UK and globally to further develop our risk and insurance capabilities in the aviation and aerospace sector, and assist clients in responding to the challenges they face during this difficult time,” said Walters.

His return is not the only addition to the team. Also incoming is Paul Rogers, who, from November 01, will be senior vice president and will support the development of the UK practice’s sales proposition. Rogers also makes the switch from Gallagher and has spent 40 years in the industry.

Finally, Andrew Walker is set to join the firm in March next year as senior vice president within the UK airline team. Walker was most recently divisional director at UIB, specialising in airline portfolios – a role he held for 16 years.

“The global aviation industry has been particularly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic; many organisations are re-evaluating their business models and are seeking new ways to build their resilience to future shocks,” said Smith. “Mark, Paul and Andrew will play key roles in supporting our UK clients as the sector works towards recovery.”
