Acrisure UK targets record fundraising year as cancer cases hit an all-time high

Acrisure UK has raised more than £134,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support in the first few months of 2026, after employees across its UK businesses voted to select the cancer charity as their lead fundraising partner for the year.

More than 800 staff across Acrisure Re, Acrisure London Wholesale and Acrisure UK Retail took part in the vote, with many already committed to a programme of fundraising activities including a staff sleepout, charity quiz nights, abseils, marathons and bake-offs.

The campaign was launched at Acrisure UK's sixth annual football tournament, held at the Amex Stadium in Brighton. The event draws partners, clients and employees from across the business, featured 20 teams this year and included a dedicated women's match for the first time.

The fundraising effort builds on what the company describes as its most successful charitable year to date. Acrisure UK raised more than £200,000 for UK charities in 2025, including Brain Research UK, with the annual football tournament accounting for more than half of that total. Market observers have noted that the tournament has become a networking focal point for insurers, MGAs and brokers that trade with Acrisure, adding a community engagement dimension to what is also a market-facing event.

Tom Quy, head of charity and managing director at Acrisure London Wholesale, said the initiative reflected values that run across the organisation.

"Our sixth annual football tournament brought our UK businesses together to support Macmillan, along with the first ever women's match. At Acrisure, we care deeply about our customers and communities," said Quy. "Our employees across the UK truly went the extra mile in 2025, raising record amounts for our charity partners, and we're determined to go even further for Macmillan Cancer Support this year."

A platform in expansion

The fundraising milestone comes as Acrisure continues to build out its UK presence at pace.

In January 2025, the company completed its UK broker rebranding programme, with all acquired heritage brokers now operating under the Acrisure name, bringing together decades of local insurance experience under a single internationally recognised brand. The UK broking platform now comprises nine acquired businesses, alongside Acrisure Re, Acrisure London Wholesale, three MGAs and the Eleven Network.

The wholesale arm has been particularly active in building out its specialist capabilities. Acrisure London Wholesale recently launched Acrisure Connect, a digital platform developed with Verisk Specialty Business Solutions and backed by Lloyd's syndicates including Flux Syndicate 1985, designed to open London market capacity to small and mid-sized businesses that have historically struggled to access specialist underwriters.

The division also expanded into aviation insurance in March 2026, appointing a specialist from Marsh to lead the new practice as part of a broader build-out of its London wholesale platform.

For a business growing as rapidly as Acrisure in the UK market, a structured and visible community engagement programme carries strategic weight beyond its charitable value. Insurance companies are increasingly strengthening their employee value proposition by highlighting purpose alongside flexibility and diversity, with firms that can communicate a clear mission finding it resonates strongly with younger professionals entering the market.

The cause

The latest analysis from Macmillan Cancer Support showed that the number of people living with cancer in the UK has risen to almost 3.5 million, the highest figure ever reported, with approximately half a million more people living with the disease in 2025 than there were just five years ago. Performance against cancer waiting time targets across all UK nations fell to among the worst on record in 2023 and 2024, with only partial improvements seen in 2025.

Victoria Floyd, head of corporate partnerships at Macmillan Cancer Support, said the partnership would directly support the charity's ability to expand its reach.

"We are delighted to have been selected by Acrisure as their lead charity partner in the UK. It means so much to us that their brilliant colleagues will be baking cakes, scoring goals and quizzing to raise vital funds for Macmillan," said Floyd. "It is only with the generous support of partners like Acrisure that we can continue to do whatever it takes to support people with cancer and spark a revolution in cancer care for the future."

Alongside the Macmillan campaign, Acrisure UK offices will continue to support regional and local causes through the company's Nomination Fund, which enables employees to direct donations to additional charities of their choosing.
