Activate Group has acquired Avant Group, a UK-based collision repair specialist, as part of its broader strategy to expand its accident management and repair operations across the insurance and fleet sectors.
The deal includes Avant Group’s three core business units, namely, Avant Consult, Avant Repaid Network and Bodynet. Both companies are active in motor claims and repair management, with a combined portfolio that spans hundreds of thousands of claims annually.
The acquisition is expected to strengthen Activate Group’s presence in both repair and digital services, particularly through the integration of Bodynet’s bodyshop management system and AutoPad platform, according to the company. The deal is backed by additional investment from private equity firm Elysian Capital, which initially supported Activate Group in 2024 and increased its stake earlier this year.
Activate Group currently provides claims management through its sopp+sopp and Motor Repair Network businesses. It also operates 13 repair centres under the Activate Accident Repair brand and distributes automotive parts through Activate Parts. The acquisition also adds manufacturer-approved paint and body programme capabilities to Activate Group’s existing services.
In addition, the Bodynet and AutoPad platforms will support Onyx Repair Innovations, a sister company launched by Activate Group in 2024 to develop repair management systems. The technology integration is aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and expanding digital tools across the repair process.
In connection with the acquisition, Avant’s leadership team will remain in their current roles. Mark Johnstone (pictured above, right) was named managing director of Avant Group and will join Activate’s executive team. Chris Ryder will remain in charge of Avant Repair Network, while Neil Blackman takes on the role of account director of the group’s automotive division.
Commenting on the deal, Activate Group CEO Hannah Wilcox (pictured above, left) said the acquisition of Avant Group adds specialist capability and supports the company’s goal of delivering integrated repair and claims services.
Meanwhile, Johnstone said the integration offers scope for wider development. “Becoming part of Activate Group gives us the opportunity to grow faster, expand our reach and bring additional value to our clients and partners,” he said.
Last year, Activate Group also acquired two Motorcare repair sites in Tunbridge Wells and Bristol. The sites rebranded under the Activate Accident Repair banner and has been upgraded to meet group standards.
