American International Group has announced that Anthony Vidovich will join the company as its chief claims officer for general insurance starting May 14.

In his new role, Vidovich will be responsible for the strategic direction of general insurance claims, including governance and policy, settlement authorities, claims handling and global best practices. He will report to Peter Zaffino, CEO of general insurance. Vidovich will also serve as a member of the general insurance executive leadership team.

Vidovich joins AIG from XL Catlin, where he has served, since 2015, as global head of claims for insurance and reinsurance. Prior to that, he was XL Catlin’s general counsel for insurance claims. He’s also served as associate general counsel for commercial markets and assistant general counsel for reinsurance at The Hartford. Previously, Vidovich was an attorney at Blank Rome in Philadelphia, where he practiced corporate litigation with a focus on P&C and life and health insurers.

“Anthony is an accomplished property and casualty executive with a demonstrated track record of managing complex claims and legal issues,” Zaffino said. “His significant industry expertise and experience building high-performing global teams will be valued additions in this very important role for general insurance.”

“I am very pleased to join AIG’s general insurance leadership team as our industry faces new and more complex risks,” Vidovich said. “I look forward to working with AIG colleagues around the world to deliver strong claims capabilities in local markets on behalf of our clients.”
