APRIL UK provides update following market exit announcement

Protection specialist APRIL UK, which last month confirmed its exit from the UK private medical insurance (PMI) market, has revealed who will be picking up the pieces.

Reaching an agreement with AXA PPP healthcare, APRIL UK said the former will offer continuation of PMI cover to individual and SME customers impacted by the market withdrawal. It noted that there will be no personal additional medical exclusions.

“The arrangement means that no client will be left without an offer of continuing their cover at renewal,” explained APRIL UK in its announcement. “Intermediaries can renegotiate their (individual and group) clients’ cover mid-term with AXA PPP healthcare although commission clawback will be applied by APRIL UK, where applicable.”

Meanwhile a broker hotline – 0800 073 5330 – has been set up by APRIL UK for queries on the transfer of business. AXA PPP healthcare will also respond to questions related to continuation of cover through a helpline that will be announced soon.

APRIL UK’s other business lines in the country, as well as separate entities operating in different markets, are not affected by the move.
