The Scottish city of Perth has been handed a significant jobs boost – courtesy of an insurance giant.

Aviva has announced that it will bring a host of new customer adviser and claims handling roles to the Pitheavlis headquarters, potentially taking its staff at the location to 1,100.

A report in The Courier revealed that there would be a mix of full- and part-time roles with a particular focus on home and travel insurance.

“This recruitment drive reinforces the importance of Perth as one of Aviva’s strategic UK locations,” the publication quoted David Skinn, distribution director with Aviva in Perth as saying. “These are key front-line roles which are very much at the heart of what we do – helping our customers when they need us the most.

“Aviva has a great heritage here in Perth and we’re really pleased to be able to build on that with these roles.”

The move comes little over a year after Aviva announced the creation of a digital hub in Perth, meant to bring together both its online and traditional broking teams. That move saw some work relocated from its Leicester base with 82 roles lost.
