Caroline Alder-Smurthwaite has joined Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) in London to serve as general casualty head for the UK.
The key hire, whose career started out in claims at Gerling Insurance, most recently held the position of London corporate casualty manager at Chubb where she worked for 12 years.
Commenting on the appointment, UK and Europe head of casualty Hilary Browne said: “Caroline has more than two decades of underwriting experience spanning a wide range of customers, including corporate and large multinational captive accounts.
“She will play a pivotal leadership role in bringing BHSI’s bespoke coverage, financial stability, and service excellence to customers across the UK and around the globe, and it is my pleasure to welcome her to our UK team.”
