After more than eight years at XL Catlin, John Taylor has made the switch to The Channel Syndicate.

Previously the class underwriter for UK property and international binders at XL, Taylor has made the switch to the position of head of international binders where he will report to divisional head of delegated authority, Phil Lawson.

Issuing a Press release announcing the appointment, The Channel Syndicate described Taylor as being well-known in the market, noting that he brings more than a decade of underwriting experience to the new position. He actually started his career with La Playa Ltd and Home & Legacy Insurance Services, before joining Catlin in 2007. He was appointed as class underwriter for the UK and International binding authorities book in January 2014.

Speaking about the new arrival, Tom Corfield, active underwriter at Channel, remarked that Taylor’s experience will help The Channel Syndicate broaden its horizons.

“Binding Authority business is a key part of Channel’s development and we see significant opportunities in this area of the market,” he said. “Our offering to date has been predominantly US focused but John has considerable experience in writing UK and global delegated authority business, which will enhance our geographical scope.”
