Chubb has appointed Jeremiah Konz as executive vice-president, reinsurance officer for the company’s international general insurance business, Chubb Overseas General.

Konz is currently serving as senior vice-president, ceded reinsurance for Chubb’s North American operations. A release said that in his new role, effective January 01, 2019, Konz will have overall responsibility for the company’s ceded reinsurance programs for all markets outside North America. He will report to Chubb Group vice-president, commercial property and casualty division president, overseas general insurance Timothy O’Donnell and Chubb Group vice-president, chief reinsurance officer Michael Kessler.

Konz will succeed Neil Bennett, who will retire by the end of this year, a release said. Bennett has cultivated a 40-year career in the insurance industry, including 20 at Chubb, and has worked in numerous underwriting and claims roles – primarily in London and Bermuda.

“Reinsurance is a critical part of how we manage risk, and Jeremiah brings deep expertise, as well as strong analytical and technical skills. I am pleased to welcome him to his new role,” said Chubb Group executive vice-president and Overseas General Insurance president Juan Andrade. “I also want to thank Neil for his two decades of contributions to Chubb. We will wish him the best when he retires at year end.”

Konz has nearly 20 years of insurance industry experience. Prior to joining Chubb in 2012, he was an executive with Aon Benfield, where he provided analytic expertise to large commercial property reinsurance placements. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and Economics from the University of Minnesota, and holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Associate in Reinsurance (ARe) designations from the AICPU.
