It looks like the legal tussle between Aviva Insurance Ireland DAC – the Irish general insurance operations of UK-headquartered group Aviva Plc – and ex-boss John Quinlan has been put to rest.

Quinlan, who took the insurer to court around the time his successor was named, is said to have filed a notice of discontinuance and will not be pursuing the case anymore. Prior to the lawsuit, the former CEO was cited as being on leave.

Meanwhile, it’s been confirmed that Quinlan is no longer connected with Aviva.

A company spokesperson told The Irish Times: “Declan O’Rourke is CEO of Aviva’s general insurance business; John Quinlan has left the business.”

Aviva, according to the publication, declined to comment on whether it reached a settlement with the industry stalwart, who joined from RSA in 2013. It also remains unclear why Quinlan was replaced.

The current chief, meanwhile, came onboard the company in September. A PwC alum, O’Rourke moved to Aviva after nearly three decades at AIG.
