Dog-lovers wanting to discover more about the British capital through a decidedly doggie lens got the chance to hop on a K9 Bus Tour this week thanks to UK insurance company More Than.

The company is a brand within RSA Group which has just started offering coverage for pets as well as the standard home, car, contents policies, plus caravan, landlord, travel, business, and life insurance too.

Billed as the ‘world’s first ever city bus tour designed for dogs’, the tour was created to launch More Than’s new DOGGYSSENTIALS service – the company’s total pet care and protection offering which entails a monthly box containing items such as treats, dental chews, quality food and dog walking balls being delivered direct to policyholders’ doors.

Dog-owners could take their pets on the whistle-stop sightseeing experience like no other with disembarking points including some of the city’s best parks and dog walking spots such as Hyde Park, Kensington Palace Gardens and Green Park.

The pooch-loving tourists were regaled with onboard commentary about London’s rich canine history, including the ministerial dogs of Downing Street, the many corgis that have shared Buckingham Palace with the Queen and the location of London’s only dog cemetery.

They also received a leaflet mapping dog-friendly pubs, bars and restaurants in the area.

The distinctive bus, aptly numbered the K9, was a customised double-decker that also took in an array of points of interest with a connection to dogs in the city, such as Europe’s largest collection of dog paintings.

More Than’s Steve Jay said: “London is a city famed for its fascinating history and rich culture, much of which man’s best friend has been heavily involved in.

“The K9 bus tour aims to celebrate this often underappreciated fact, while also providing owners with a fun and unique way to spend time entertaining their beloved pet.”

The promotion ran for three days this week.
