Generali Global Corporate & Commercial (GC&C) has announced two leadership appointments within its Mediterranean and Latin America region, as part of an organisational restructuring led by Patricia Puerta.
Effective Nov. 1, the company launched a new Business Transformation & Technical Excellence unit, headed by Jose Maria Romero de Tejada (pictured above, left). Romero de Tejada will report directly to Puerta and will oversee the development of strategic initiatives and business transformation across functions and countries in the region.
Additionally, on Dec. 2, Mikel Bermejo (pictured above, right) joined GC&C as head of underwriting, also reporting to Puerta. Bermejo brings extensive experience in the corporate insurance sector to his new role.
Puerta commented on the appointments, stating that both Romero de Tejada and Bermejo will play critical roles in strengthening GC&C’s strategic vision and enhancing operational excellence in the Mediterranean and Latin America markets.
“Jose Maria's leadership in business transformation will drive our strategic initiatives forward, while Mikel's extensive experience in underwriting will elevate our capabilities and service offerings. Their technical expertise and people management styles will play a pivotal role in amplifying our operational excellence and delivering value to our clients,” Puerta said.
Romero de Tejada has been with Generali for over 13 years and has held leadership roles in civil engineering underwriting, strategic planning, operational efficiency, and technical excellence. His previous positions within GC&C Mediterranean & Latin America include head of claims and head of operations and IT.
He holds a master’s degree in insurance business management from ICEA – Pontifical University of Salamanca, an executive MBA from IESE Business School – University of Navarra, and an MSc in civil engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia.
