Global Risk Partners (GRP) has named Dan Berry (pictured) to serve as chief underwriting officer, as part of the GRP Underwriting team.

In his new role, Berry will report to GRP Underwriting CEO Clive Nathan. His responsibilities will include oversight of data and analytics to drive risk selection, underwriting and product innovation. He will also leverage technology to further develop GRP’s digital capability, GRP said in a release. In addition, Berry will work with the group’s insurer partners to develop long-term relationships.

“Dan is a highly experienced manager of underwriting portfolios who will add significant expertise to the business,” said Nathan.

He added that GRP Underwriting is already using digital practices to combine the company’s “strong underwriting tradition with the advantages of technology and data analysis.” This, the chief executive said, would be a key factor in the future success of the underwriting business.

“GRP Underwriting is already one of the largest MGAs in the UK, and I’m excited to be joining a business with ambitious growth targets, a clear vision and the financial backing to make that vision happen,” commented Berry on his appointment.

Berry added in a statement that GRP Underwriting has a proven track record under the leadership of Nathan, and is well-positioned to continue to deliver “outstanding service” to the company’s broker partners and their customers.

Earlier this month, GRP welcomed Mark Hepsworth as a new member of its board of directors, in a non-executive role. According to GRP chief executive Mike Bruce, Hepsworth’s deep understanding of the data environment will enhance the board’s capabilities as GRP executes its digital transformation.
