It’s looking like a busy week for insurance law firm circles, and today Insurance Business gives you the lowdown on what’s happening over at the likes of Keoghs and Kennedys.

Keoghs
Why stop at 10 when you can open an 11th office? That’s what Keoghs has done – docking in Bristol where the majority of the firm’s marine, ports, and offshore unit as well as members of the property risks and coverage team will be based.

Keoghs, whose marine services operation started in 2017, also has marine specialists in Glasgow.

“As Bristol has such a prosperous maritime history, it’s a great location to continue growing our marine offering as well as providing another base for our highly successful property risks and coverage team,” said marine partner Daniel Crockford.

“From a personal point of view, having trained in Bristol, I am pleased to be part of a new chapter for Keoghs in this fantastic city.”

Kennedys
Coming onboard the global law firm is Kathryn Oldfield, whose move from Plexus is aimed at bolstering Kennedys’ public liability practice in the UK. The historic abuse and local authority specialist will be based in the Chelmsford office.

“I am delighted that Kathryn has chosen to join Kennedys as a partner,” commented liability head Richard West. “To welcome someone of Kathryn’s integrity, market profile, and expertise to our partnership is a pleasure.

“It is clear that Kathryn cares passionately about her work and has sought a home that will support her and her practice for the long term. Kathryn’s arrival is part of our continued strategy to strengthen our capabilities both domestically and internationally.”

Kennedys’ professional liability practice, on the other hand, recently received a boost with the addition of partners in London, Birmingham, and Taunton.

Minster Law
There’s now a chief financial officer at personal injury solicitors Minster Law. The creation of the new role means a promotion for Martin Hume (pictured), who currently serves as finance and risk director at the Yorkshire-based law firm.

“This is an exciting time for our sector, as the old claims world gives way to a digitally-enabled, customer-centric sector where claimant businesses, like Minster Law, that have invested in technology to vastly improve the customer claims journey, will thrive and expand, including into other products and services,” asserted Hume, whose CFO appointment is effective immediately.

“I’m looking forward to helping the executive and management teams achieve Minster Law’s long-term strategic aims.”

CEO Shirley Woolham described the Direct Line Group alumnus as having “proved himself an exceptional member” of Minster Law’s executive team.
