Maksure Risk Solutions has been granted full Lloyd’s registered broker status, becoming the only African originating firm to achieve this designation within the renowned insurance market.

Operating from its various bases across Africa, Asia, East and Western Europe, South America, and the Caribbean, Maksure is now poised to leverage its new status to enhance its service offerings. This includes access to a diverse pool of underwriting expertise and capacity in the Lloyd's global marketplace.

Managing director Simba Makwembere (pictured above) said the approval from Lloyd’s reflects the firm’s “strong corporate governance, exceptional technical and leadership skills that can compete at a global scale.”

New status opens access to Lloyd’s markets, plus other benefits

As a Lloyd’s registered broker, Maksure will be able to boost its capability to place unique or complex risks.

The company will also benefit from Lloyd's reputation for flexibility in underwriting unconventional risks, allowing Maksure to offer tailored insurance solutions to meet specific client needs, including emerging risks and new industries.

Networking opportunities within the Lloyd’s market also provide Maksure with valuable insights into market trends and developments, further benefiting their client base.

Vice president Vincent Gota highlighted the operational benefits of the new status and said being part of Lloyd’s brokers enhances Maksure’s capacity to place specialist lines of business including aviation, political violence & terrorism, cyber, oil & gas, marine, financial lines and large property accounts.

“Our clients have access to over 70 underwriters specializing in these and other specialty classes,” he said.

In addition to its brokerage services, Maksure is one of the major players in captive management across South Africa, Mauritius, Bermuda, and various other jurisdictions.
