Marsh has named a new chief executive of its UK corporate division as the current leader moves to take on the role of chairman of Marsh Ireland, it has been announced today.

Alistair Fraser (pictured), currently chief executive and president director of Marsh Indonesia, will succeed Joe Grogan in heading up the UK corporate business. In his new role, Fraser will report to Chris Lay, chief executive of Marsh UK & Ireland.

As the new chairman of Marsh Ireland, Grogan will oversee Marsh’s Irish operations with a particular focus on implementing the firm’s Brexit strategy. Grogan will continue to report to Lay and will serve as a board member of Marsh Ltd.

Grogan has nearly 40 years of industry experience and has spent 27 years at Marsh, during which time he has held numerous senior roles and led the UK corporate business since 2009.

Fraser, who has more than 22 years of experience in the international insurance industry and has spent over a decade at Marsh, has held numerous leadership positions in the UK, Singapore and Indonesia.

“Alistair brings extensive international experience in leading strong teams and growing businesses to our UK corporate division,” commented UK & Ireland chief executive Lay in a statement. “Under his leadership, he will ensure that the firm delivers the services and solutions that our corporate clients need to mitigate the increasingly complex risks they face, and continue to be successful.”

Grogan was described as an “exceptional leader” who has played a pivotal role in developing Marsh’s business in the UK and Ireland over the last two decades.

“I would like to thank him for his considerable efforts and wish him success in his new role as chairman of Marsh Ireland,” Lay added.

Both appointments are subject to regulatory approval and are expected to take effect by the end of 2018.
