The professional standards committee of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) has three new committee members.

Replacing outgoing committee members Professor Charles Munn OBE, consumer and personal finance journalist Teresa Hunter, and former Financial Services Consumer Panel chair Sue Lewis are Kate Wellington, James Daley, and Mark Butterworth.

Wellington is head of legal operations at charitable social enterprise Which?, and Daley is managing director at Fairer Finance. Both are named as independent consumer representatives.

Tapped to serve as commercial representative, meanwhile, is Condie Risk Consultancy Ltd managing director Mark Butterworth, who previously chaired the Association of Insurance Risk Managers and the Institute of Risk Management.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank our outgoing board members for their invaluable contribution and guidance over the past few years and welcome our new appointments,” commented CII chief executive Sian Fisher.

“It is encouraging to see highly experienced professionals drawn to working with the Chartered Insurance Institute in its commitments to building public trust. Their contribution will equally be invaluable in furthering our ambition to better protect the interests of the consumer by supporting the aspirations of our members.”

Formed to oversee and support professional competence and ethical behaviour across the CII membership, the committee has helped to ensure that standards for professional conduct are appropriate within the Institute’s code of ethics.
