QBE Europe has announced the appointment of Stephen Johnson (pictured above) as head of trading for the South East region. This newly established position will see Johnson leading the regional underwriting teams in London and Chelmsford, focusing on building relationships with broker partners and customers.

Johnson, who will be reporting to Andy Fitzgerald, director of UK regions for QBE Europe, transitions into this role from his previous position within the QBE Property team, where he served as underwriting manager for commercial property.

With over two decades of experience in the insurance sector, Johnson brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the role, having previously worked at prominent companies such as Chubb, RSA, and Brit.

The appointment of Johnson is also part of QBE Europe's broader initiative to enhance broker support and drive growth across the UK. This strategy was evident in 2023, with the appointment of heads of trading in each of QBE Europe's regional offices. These appointments included David Round in Birmingham, Steve Field in Bristol, Chris Long in Glasgow and Belfast, Janine Wood in Leeds, and Stacey Flannery in Manchester.

“Stephen’s appointment completes the hiring of our trading heads across the UK regions and will further support our growth ambitions. The South East is an important region and Stephen’s role will provide additional focus to trading with our broker partners and customers in this location,” Fitzgerald said.
