RSA UK & International, which last month launched five Global Risk Solutions (GRS) industry practices, has given the unit further boost with the appointment of GRS chief underwriting officer Rachel Conran.

Effective on July 08 subject to regulatory approval, the appointment is part of the insurance group’s wider focus on driving the performance of the GRS business by improving underwriting, pricing accuracy, and risk management. Conran, who brings more than 25 years of insurance industry experience to RSA, will be based in Luxembourg.

The incoming CUO most recently served as an independent financial analyst, a capacity that saw Conran advise global insurance companies on their underwriting strategy. Her credentials include spending time in the chief underwriting office of Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty between 2009 and 2016.

“It’s an exciting time for RSA, and I’m looking forward to joining a team that is determined to grow and deliver the best services to customers and brokers,” stated Conran, who also held the positions of chief executive and chief underwriting officer at SCOR Business Solutions until last year.

Commenting on the appointment, GRS managing director Tony Buckle said: “We’re delighted to have Rachel on our team as we work to boost the profitability and development of our Global Risk Solutions business.

“Rachel has an impressive track record, and I look forward to working closely with her to build our underwriting capability in the large corporate and specialty insurance space across our EMEA (Europe, the Middle East, and Africa) network.”
