Saturn Holdings PLC has acquired Markerstudy Insurance Services Limited (MISL) from Markerstudy Group, restructuring the operational relationship between two of the UK's largest insurance businesses.
The deal, completed in July 2026, brings MISL's service functions in-house under Saturn, the parent company of Tradex Insurance Company PLC and Soteria Insurance Limited. The acquisition increases Saturn's workforce to around 1,000 employees and expands its operational footprint across motor, home, motor trade and taxi insurance.
Saturn and Markerstudy have operated as strategic partners since 2023, with Saturn using Markerstudy's pricing, data and analytics infrastructure during that period. The acquisition formalises that relationship by bringing the service business into Saturn's ownership.
Mark Summerfield (pictured left), chief executive of Saturn, said: "We have ambitious plans to grow further - strengthening our position in the UK insurance market, broadening our underwriting footprint, and exploring new business opportunities."
For Markerstudy, the disposal supports its strategy of focusing investment on its core retail business. The group's personal lines brands include Swinton Insurance, Carole Nash, Marmalade, Budget Insurance and Purely Pets.
Kevin Spencer (pictured right), group chief executive of Markerstudy, said: "This is a positive and forward-looking step for Markerstudy. By sharpening our focus on our core strengths, we are better positioned to invest in the areas that matter most to our customers and partners."
Saturn will assume responsibility for the operating model, leadership structure and service delivery of the transferred business. Summerfield said the group is committed to ensuring a smooth handover for colleagues while positioning the business for long-term growth.
Gary Humphreys has been appointed chief commercial officer of the transferred business, subject to regulatory approval. Both organisations said they will maintain service continuity for customers and partners throughout the integration.
