The appointment is subject to regulatory approval. In his new role, Mumme-Young will oversee the underwriting strategy and performance of SCOR UK’s operations and Lloyd’s syndicate activities.
Mumme-Young succeeds Marie Biggas, who had held the position since 2022 and has now been promoted to chief underwriting officer for SCOR Business solutions and Facultative Reinsurance. He joined the company in 2014 as a senior underwriter in political and credit risks for SCOR syndicate 2015 (previously Channel Syndicate 2015).
In 2021, Mumme-Young was appointed global line head for political and credit risks, overseeing both Syndicate and Company Markets. Before joining SCOR, he held underwriting roles at ACE and Liberty.
Mumme-Young will report to Chris Beazley, chief executive of SCOR UK and SCOR Syndicate. Beazley has held the role since 2022 after taking over from Stuart McMurdo.
“We are delighted to appoint Henry to this role,” Beazley said. “I have no doubt his broad skillset and experience will further strengthen our underwriting leadership as we continue to build SCOR’s specialty insurance presence in the London market.”
Claire McDonald, chief executive of SCOR Business Solutions, also expressed her excitement in seeing Mumme-Young take on what she says is an “important” role for SCOR UK and the syndicate.
“As someone who has worked across both, he is an ideal candidate to continue the development and growth journey of the two platforms,” she added. “I look forward to working with him in his new role.”
McDonald also expressed her gratitude to Biggas for her leadership over the last couple of years, as well as for her acting in an interim capacity since her appointment as global CUO.
Last year, the company launched a new offshore renewable energy consortium in partnership with Acrisure Re. This new consortium increases the company’s deployable capacity to more than US$180 million.
