Thomas Miller Claims Management has appointed Jessica Maitra (pictured above) as its director of claims and legal services. In her new role, Maitra will lead and oversee the front-office operations and legal services in all the company’s businesses, including Thomas Miller Law.

Maitra joins Thomas Miller Group’s marine risk management consultancy from Clyde & Co, where she was a partner in the firm’s marine and international trade department. A qualified solicitor, Maitra brings more than 20 years’ worth of legal experience in the maritime industry, during which she has developed an expertise in contentious and non-contentious dry shipping work.

“Jessica is a well-known figure in the marine market and she is a very welcome addition to our growing team,” said Thomas Miller Professional Services CEO Nicky Cowans. “I am certain her skills and experience will be of great value to the Thomas Miller Claims Management group going forward.”

Maitra will be working from the Thomas Miller Newcastle office, taking responsibility for both Thomas Miller Claims Management and Thomas Miller Law’s front-office operations. She will also help develop Thomas Miller Claims Management’s client-focused services alongside the senior management team.

“This is a pivotal time to be joining an already very strong team at Thomas Miller Claims Management,” Maitra said. “[I] am determined to make a positive contribution to maintaining excellent service levels to the business and its clients.”

Thomas Miller Claims Management brings flexibility to the claims-handling expertise and market-leading network of partners of Thomas Miller within the group’s core sectors of marine, transport, and general commercial business.

Apart from providing general advice on disputes, liabilities, and loss prevention, the claims operations firm’s principal activities include comprehensive on-demand or whole-caseload claims management, medical case management and pre-employment screening, and casualty response, coordination, and global investigation services.
