Jensten Group has agreed to acquire Coversure Midlands, the largest franchise in the Coversure network, adding around 30 colleagues across offices in the Midlands and Kent to its growing UK broking operation. The business includes two online quote-and-buy brands - Boxguard and Fastquote - alongside its core commercial and personal lines broking. Financial terms were not disclosed.

This is Jensten's third acquisition of 2026, following Broker One - its first move into the Scottish market - and Coversure Dudley, both completed earlier in the year. The group now places more than £650 million in gross written premium and employs over 1,000 staff across 35 locations. Existing client relationships at Coversure Midlands are expected to continue unchanged following completion.

Part of a long-running pattern of franchise buyouts

This is not Jensten's first conversion of a Coversure franchise into a directly owned business. The group has previously acquired Coversure offices in Nottingham, Stamford, Kidderminster, Poole and Dudley, absorbing some of the network's highest-performing franchisees as their owners look to retire or realise the value they have built.

The Coversure network, which turns 40 in October, has supported more than 90 local offices and generated more than £135 million in gross written premium in 2024. Jensten has completed 37 acquisitions since 2020 - initially under private equity backer Livingbridge, and since November 2025 under Bain Capital following that firm's acquisition of the group.

Gareth Birch, CEO of broking at Jensten Group, said Coversure Midlands is a high-quality business with a strong team and local presence, and that the deal demonstrates how the group supports successful brokers to grow and then provides a natural long-term home when owners are ready to step back.

Why the franchise-to-acquisition pipeline matters for the market

The structure here is deliberate. The Coversure model allows experienced brokers to establish and grow their own brokerage under the Coversure brand with Jensten's backing, then sell that business back to Jensten when the time comes to exit - giving departing owners a built-in succession route and giving Jensten a steady supply of already-vetted, already-integrated acquisition targets.

That pipeline has become more valuable as consolidation pressure in UK broking intensifies. An ageing ownership base in regional brokerages, rising compliance costs, and sustained private equity interest in the sector have pushed more independent brokers toward network or franchise models as a structured path toward eventual sale, rather than continuing to operate independently until a buyer appears from outside.

What makes this deal notable within Jensten's own history is scale. Coversure Midlands is explicitly the largest franchise in the network. Previous Coversure acquisitions have typically been smaller regional offices. Taking in the network's largest franchise - one that also runs two distinct online brands alongside its core broking business - suggests Jensten's appetite for converting its most successful members into directly owned operations is extending further up the size range than earlier deals. That is a pattern worth watching as the group continues to lean on its own franchise pipeline for growth under Bain Capital's ownership.
