Jensten Group has agreed to acquire Venture Risks Group (VRG), a specialist technology-focused corporate broker, with completion expected in October 2026. Financial terms were not disclosed.

VRG, incorporated in 2018, has built a reputation advising high-growth and innovation-led businesses, and previously operated as an appointed representative of Momentum Broker Solutions. It will join Jensten's Tech, Media, Cyber & Life Sciences division, deepening the capability the group has already built across technology, professional indemnity, cyber and related risks. The acquisition extends Jensten's footprint within this specialism into Cambridge, adding to existing operations in London, Bristol, Thames Valley and Birmingham and giving the division coverage across the UK's principal technology and life sciences corridors.

Part of a rapid run of acquisitions

This is at least Jensten's fifth acquisition since the start of the year. The Bain Capital-backed consolidator bought Coversure Midlands, Coversure's largest franchise, in August, having earlier acquired Broker One, Coversure Dudley and Mediprotect Healthcare in January, alongside its prior purchase of Northern Counties, which added offices in Gateshead and Glasgow. Jensten was founded in 1986, is now headquartered in Huntingdon, employs around 1,000 staff, and moved to Bain Capital ownership from Livingbridge in November 2025.

As part of Jensten, VRG will continue trading under its existing brand, with clients retaining their current point of contact while gaining access to the wider group's resources, insurer relationships and specialist capabilities.

What was said

Gareth Birch, chief executive of broking at Jensten Group, said specialty is a core part of the group's growth plan and VRG is exactly the kind of business it wants to partner with: technically strong, entrepreneurial and built on long-standing client relationships. He said the deal adds real depth to the Tech, Media, Cyber & Life Sciences division and strengthens the proposition Jensten can offer across the wider group.

Martin Swann, managing director of Jensten London Markets & Specialty, said VRG has built an excellent reputation in its chosen markets and brings a talented team with a strong client-first culture, adding that the deal strengthens the group's presence across Cambridge, London, Bristol, Thames Valley and Birmingham.

John McLaren-Stewart, chief executive of Venture Risks Group, said joining Jensten is an exciting next step for a business built around specialist knowledge, strong client relationships and a commitment to service, and that becoming part of Jensten provides a platform for future growth while ensuring clients continue receiving support from the same team they deal with today.

The wider read

What distinguishes this deal from a straightforward bolt-on is the geographic logic behind it: Cambridge is a genuine gap in Jensten's specialist technology and life sciences coverage, sitting alongside one of the UK's most concentrated clusters of biotech and deep-tech firms, precisely the client base a broker built around AI, product recall, cyber and professional indemnity risk needs direct presence in rather than servicing remotely from London or Bristol.

Combined with the pace of Jensten's other 2026 deals, spanning general commercial, healthcare and now specialist technology broking, the group's acquisition strategy reads less like opportunistic buying and more like a deliberate effort to fill specific capability and geographic gaps one deal at a time.
