CPU Group has announced that Max Caviet, former CEO of Amtrust International, has joined its board.

Caviet joined Amtrust in 2003 and served as president of AmTrust International Insurance until 2015. From 2010 to 2015, he was CEO of AmTrust Europe. Earlier in his career, he worked at Trenwick International, Crowe Underwriting Agency, Cigna and British Engine Insurance Company.

“I’m delighted to welcome Max to the board, who brings considerable experience and expertise to up-scale the business ready for targeted, profitable growth,” said Greg Gregory, founder of CPU Group.

“I’m hugely excited by this opportunity,” Caviet said. “CPU’s innovative Genie platform is already disrupting the tech insurance sector and can deliver innovative, niche-market insurance solutions with unparalleled functionality for all users, both at home and abroad. With bespoke navigation tools and a functional, intuitive design, Genie offers customers, brokers and insurers alike a fully digital, personalised experience 24/7 – and this is what the insurance market needs in today’s fast-moving, tech-driven environment.”

CPU announced that its UK business, Accuro Risk Management, continue arranging and distributing new products domestically. CPU will also establish Accuro Insurance Brokers EU, drawing on Caviet’s extensive international insurance experience.

Gregory will relocate from London to Cyprus to lead the European expansion. According to Gregory, the company chose Cyprus as its EU headquarters because of favourable government policies regarding the technology sector. These policies contributed to strong growth for the Cypriot economy at 12.8% in the second quarter of 2021.

“Success like this is a real attraction”, said Gregory. “We look forward to establishing our Cyprus operations, further developing our Genie insurance sales and distribution platform.”
