The launch of a new mobile app; the integration of Babylon Health; and a fresh funding round – these are just the latest in a string of major developments for travel insurance disruptor Pluto.

Now offering instant flight delay cover, Pluto has also incorporated Babylon Health into its proposition to provide round-the-clock on-demand medical help and prescriptions to app users.

That means Pluto customers not only get instant airport lounge access or a cash payout when flights are delayed but also have a virtual UK GP within reach when they fall ill while on holiday.

In addition, the start-up has announced a new funding round with investment platform Seedrs as Pluto gears up for what it called phase two of the London-based insurtech’s product development and growth.

“In an industry that’s in desperate need of changing from reactive to proactive, Pluto is at the forefront of meeting modern travellers’ needs and expectations,” commented Pluto investor Duncan McIntyre. “If your flight is delayed or you’re feeling unwell on holiday, they’re providing instant care.”

McIntyre went so far as to describe Pluto as “a game-changing addition to the stale and archaic travel insurance market.”
