Chubb has expanded its energy industry practice with two new leadership appointments.

Brad Watson and Barton Porter have been named energy practice leaders for Chubb’s mid- and large-market business, respectively. In their new roles as practice leaders, they will be responsible for leveraging Chubb’s offerings to help companies address a range of risks related to exposures unique to the energy sector, a release said.

As the practice leader for the mid-market energy segment, Watson will lead a full-range of underwriting for clients in the mining, petroleum, power, renewable and alternative energy industries. He will be based in Dallas, and will report to Chubb executive vice-president, North America industry practice leader, Jim West. He also boasts over 25 years of industry experience, most recently serving as Chubb’s underwriting manager for Dallas. Watson succeeds David Barclay, who retires as the mid-market insurance energy practice leader in June after over 36 years with Chubb.

Porter, as the practice leader for the large-market energy segment, will coordinate the global portfolio of products and services of the company’s large account risk management business for clients in the energy sector, a release said. These clients include those involved in power generation, on and offshore upstream, midstream and downstream companies, and manufacturing and contracting companies. He will be based in Houston and will report to Chubb executive vice-president, North America major accounts field operations John Alfieri.

He has 35 years of P&C industry experience. Before joining Chubb in 2014 as global casualty, senior vice-president, underwriting branch manager in Houston, Porter held several senior leadership roles at various brokerage firms.
