Over a thousand insurance professionals—about 1,300—are expected to participate in the annual Buffalo I-Day event this year. The Buffalo I-Day is one of the largest one-day insurance conventions in the country.

The event, hosted by the Insurance Club of Buffalo, will be held on Thursday, April 21, at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center.

Most of the attendees are from Western New York, but some are coming from places like Syracuse, New York City, Long Island, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Ohio.

“It’s a huge networking event for the industry’s direct employees and the ancillary businesses that support the industry,” said Insurance Club of Buffalo Sherry Ford. The board made a decision 10 or 12 years ago to make an investment in keynote speakers. We decided, ‘Let’s make this a draw. Let’s make this a big event.’”

Comedian and actor Jay Mohr was tapped to serve as this year’s speaker.

Also this year, attendees will be able to take a New York state-certified continuing education session and join another session focused on how to make the most of the event.

Ford confirmed that nearly 350 hotel rooms in the city have been reserved for out-of-town attendees.
