Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) – Allianz Group’s specialist corporate insurance unit – has named a new product lead for its aviation major risks segment in North America.

Nicholas Pooley has been tapped to serve as the product head of the regional segment, and he will be based in New York. In his new role as aviation major risks product lead, Pooley will support the development and execution of the segment’s strategy, as well as driving the implementation of new products and leading a team of experienced underwriters.

He will report directly to AGCS North America regional head of aviation David Warfel.

Pooley has more than 20 years of experience in the aviation industry. He was previously with Marsh and McLennan, where he served as senior vice-president for the company’s aviation risk management consulting segment. Prior to joining Marsh and McLennan, he held a number of positions of increasing responsibility with Willis Group Holdings, ultimately filling the role of vice-president of risk management consulting for middle-market aviation clients. Pooley started his career in insurance as a claims underwriter with Lloyd’s of London.

He holds degrees from both Anglia University and Guildford School of Law in the UK.

“Nick’s brand of international experience, client relationships and industry knowledge are unmatched,” said Warfel. “He’ll be instrumental in expanding our portfolio, and we are thrilled to welcome him on board.”
