Allstate Insurance has been recognized as one of the top 60 companies for executive women by the National Association for Female Executives (NAFE).

The 2016 “NAFE Top Companies for Executive Women” award recognizes American corporations that have moved women into top executive positions and created a culture that fosters the careers of talented women.

In Allstate, 42 per cent of the officers and managers, 56 per cent of employees and 25 per cent of agency owners and managers by the end of 2014 were all women, according to Mike Escobar, the company’s vice president for diversity and organizational effectiveness.

"We take pride in the diversity of our workforce here at Allstate," Escobar said. “When you bring together people with different backgrounds and experiences, you generate more creativity and better business results."

For this year, more than half of the 60 companies awarded by NAFE have at least four women on their boards of directors.

The number of companies led by women CEOs has dropped from 10 per cent in 2015 to 8 per cent, though it still outpaces Fortune 500 companies with 5%.

Women working in the 60 companies recognized by NAFE also received 44 per cent of promotions to the manager level and above in 2015. The largest proportion of promotions going to women is at the manager level.
