AM Specialty Insurance Group, part of AM Holding Company, has announced the appointment of Stephen Mathews (pictured above) as group chief financial officer.
Mathews will oversee the strategic financial direction of AM Specialty and its subsidiaries, supporting the group’s operations in specialty insurance and reinsurance markets.
Mathews brings over 25 years of experience in financial leadership, including roles as an insurance CFO and investment banker with firms such as Goldman Sachs, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Willis, and Guy Carpenter.
His career includes leading insurance capital-raising efforts, managing mergers and acquisitions, and executing financial strategies. He began his professional journey as a certified public accountant (CPA) at PricewaterhouseCoopers, building a foundation in finance and accounting.

Mathews also expressed his enthusiasm for the role, noting his plans to work closely with the leadership team.

Renee Montgomery will remain as CFO of AM Specialty Insurance Company (ASIC), continuing her focus on managing ASIC’s financial operations. Mathews’ role as Group CFO is designed to complement Montgomery’s work, providing enhanced financial oversight across AM Holding Company and its subsidiaries.
AM Specialty Insurance Group operates under AM Holding Company. Its subsidiaries include AM Specialty Insurance Company, AM Star Claims, AM RE Syndicate, and Pinpoint Insurance Solutions.
