AmWINS Group, a global distributor of specialty insurance products and services, has announced the appointment of Kristin L. Downey as its chief administrative officer.

In her new role, Downey will lead AmWINS’ human resources, training and development, marketing, and communications functions. She will also spearhead the company’s philanthropic efforts, including the newly formed AmWINS Foundation. Prior to her appointment as CAO, Downey served as the company’s executive vice president of human resources.

“Kristin has been an integral part of our leadership team and has continued to take on more responsibility as the company has grown,” said Scott M. Purviance, CEO of AmWINS. “Kristin exemplifies our passion for and focus on supporting our sales organization so we can deliver for our clients and carrier partners. As a human-capital-based business, we are highly focused on delivering tools for our sales and support teams.”

“It has been a privilege to be part of the AmWINS team for the past 16 years, and I am very appreciative of the opportunities the company has afforded me in such a wide variety of areas,” Downey said. “I look forward to working alongside some extremely talented colleagues and ensuring that we continue to invest in our people and maintain our entrepreneurial culture as the firm grows.”
