Argo Group Holdings, an international underwriter of specialty insurance and reinsurance, has announced the appointment of Manuel Moreno to the newly created role of chief underwriting officer of Latin America. In his new role, Moreno will be responsible for the strategy and execution of all underwriting operations in the Latin America market. He will report to Jorge Cazar, Argo Group’s head of Latin America.

“Manuel is an exceptional individual with the skills to support Argo in our ongoing expansion in Latin America,” Cazar said. “Our operations in the region have grown as we continuously identify opportunities to expand our footprint in this market. Manuel’s experience will prove invaluable, and I look forward to working with him.”

Moreno has more than 20 years of industry experience. Prior to taking the role at Argo Group, he served as energy regional industry leader for Latin America at Willis Towers Watson. He has also served as vice president of energy and engineered risk for AIG’s Latin American operations. Moreno has held several other managerial roles in the region, including AIG’s energy director for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, property, energy and marine manager for the Colombian market at AIG, and facultative property and energy director for the Colombian market at Aon Benfield.
