AXIS Insurance has hired Christina Tom as vice-president, renewable energy underwriter.

Tom, with nearly 15 years of insurance industry experience under her belt, was previously vice-president, inland marine at Aspen Insurance, where she helped launch and grow the company’s San Francisco office. Before that, she was senior underwriter in both inland marine and commercial insurance for OneBeacon, focusing on the West Coast and Pacific Northwest regions.

As VP with AXIS, Tom will be based in San Francisco and join the company’s global renewable energy team, where she will be responsible for leading its US West Coast business. She reports to Tom Cain, vice-president and US renewable energy head, AXIS Insurance.

“We are seeing strong momentum building behind our US renewable energy business, and Christina’s appointment is a key step as we expand our footprint to the West Coast, a booming renewable energy market,” said Cain.

“Christina is a true expert in the Renewables space, and her leadership will be invaluable as we enhance our offerings in such categories as wind, solar and energy storage risks.”

A release said that Tom earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Managerial Economics from the University of California, Davis.
