The US-based mergers & acquisitions team of AXA XL has seen two new promotions.

Michelle Jensen has been promoted to the role of senior underwriter. She first joined the AXA XL M&A team as an underwriter in 2018. Prior to that, she was serving as an associate in Ice Miller LLP’s Business Group, where she focused on mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions and general corporate matters.

Jensen earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and psychology from Rutgers University and a Juris Doctor degree from Rutgers University School of Law; she is licensed to practice law in New York.

Pietro Tarone, meanwhile, has been appointed underwriter of the team, replacing Jensen’s previous role. Tarone joined AXA XL as an intern in 2017 while he was finishing law school. When he finally graduated, he joined the team full time as an associate underwriter.

He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in sports management from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and his Juris Doctorate degree from Brooklyn Law School.

A release noted that both Jensen and Tarone will be based in New York and will report to AXA XL M&A insurance North America co-leaders Joseph Laws and Michael McGowan.
