Wholesale insurance brokerage Brown & Riding (B&R) has announced the appointment of Chris Bading as national property practice leader. He succeeds Guy Rawlins in the role. Rawlins, who has been a principal with the firm since 2008, continues to manage a highly successful book of business.

Bading joined B&R in 2010 as a property broker and was named a principal in 2014. He has extensive knowledge in the property sector, the company said.

“Chris is highly qualified for the national property practice leader role, with his exceptional work ethic, growing roster of agents, and the strong respect of our key carrier partners,” Rawlins said. “Agents value his deep technical expertise, especially in construction and real estate, and carriers trust his knowledge, integrity, and the time and diligence he puts into fully understanding each account, so they can provide the best and most accurate terms. I have worked closely with Chris for the last several years, and he will fit seamlessly into this role whilst taking our property practice to the next level.”

“When Chris first joined B&R, he quickly built relationships with underwriters and was constantly inquiring and expanding his knowledge to build his construction and real estate expertise,” said Shaida Monshi, B&R’s original property practice leader. “He has always exemplified leadership, offering to help his peers, and has always looked for ways to help the company improve. I am very excited to see him in this role and looking forward to his continued support and contribution to the team and B&R.”

Bading’s promotion is the latest in a series of appointments for the B&R. Last month, the firm announced key appointments in its casualty and property practices. A year ago, the firm tapped industry veteran Harold Nam as chief financial officer.
