In a bid to open more opportunities for Americans who want to try out for-hire driving, Uber has confirmed an agreement with Enterprise Rent-A-Car on December 1.The partnership would offer vehicles for use by drivers who don’t have their own units.

Enterprise said that the vehicles, which would be available in Denver initially, would carry insurance covering damage exceeding $1,000, whether the damage is incurred while the Uber app is turned off or when the driver is actively searching for passengers.

The deal would allow Uber drivers to enjoy a discounted rental rate of $840 a month to use a Toyota Corolla from Enterprise’s stables.

"What we're trying to do here is lower the barrier to entry for someone who does want to work with Uber but who does not have a qualifying car or doesn't have a car at all," Uber head of vehicle solutions Andrew Chapin told The Denver Post.

Chapin added that they are hoping to offer the deal in other locations across the country “soon”.

At $210 a week, the Uber-Enterprise partnership can prove to be a more accessible option for aspiring drivers who don't qualify for financing because of unemployment or bad credit.

Uber currently works with around 400,000 active drivers throughout the country, which represents over double its December 2014 numbers of 162,000 full- and part-time U.S. drivers.
