BHC Insurance, a Fort Smith, Arkansas, insurance company, celebrated its 100 years of business as one of the largest insurance companies in the state.

Previously known as Brown-Hiller-Clark Insurance & Associates, the company, founded in 1915, rebranded itself in 2014.

The company is fourth largest in the state of Arkansas, with nearly $100 million in insurance premiums written this year, according to Marty Clark, president of BHC Insurance. BHC work with around a hundred insurance carriers, allowing the company to design policies to suit its clients’ needs.

Major construction companies, manufacturers, and local schools in the area have long turned to BHC Insurance for their policies. The city of Fort Smith itself relies on the company for insurance.

The president of First National Bank of Fort Smith, Sam T Sicard, calls BHC Insurance “the best in the insurance industry,” underlining the company’s active community partnerships. BHC Insurance became a member of First National Bank’s parent company First Bank Corp in 2002.

“I think people think of us mainly as a business insurance agency, and that is primarily the biggest part of what we do, but we also write personal insurance for almost 2,000 individuals for home and auto,” Clark said. He added that as an independent agency, the company represents a good number and variety of markets.

The agency has around 65 employees across its three offices in Fort Smith, Lowell, and Sallisaw. BHC also offers financial products and services.

BHC Insurance received the 2015 Pacesetter Award from United Way for its full company participation.

The company expects to soon expand its operations in Lowell.
