The California Insurance Wholesalers Association (CIWA), a trade organization focused on California excess and surplus wholesalers, carriers and supporting entities, has announced plans for its upcoming 2023 Summer Forum event.

The event is scheduled for July 9-12 at the Everline Resort and Spa in Lake Tahoe, Calif.

The 2023 Summer Forum will be CIWA’s largest gathering to date, the organization said. The conference will include CIWA membership, national surplus lines associations’ directors and board members, affiliates of the Western States Surplus Lines Conference, and non-members who are considering joining the association.

In previous years, the Western States Surplus Lines Conference required various offices to take turns handling event planning and logistics. However, the merged Summer Forum eliminates that burden, and will be planned by CIWA’s managing agency, Direct Connection Advertising & Marketing.

During the conference, the CIWA Legislative Committee will host a panel discussion to present a legislative update for the state of California, including speakers from the Wholesale & Specialty Insurance Association and the California SLA. Amwins’ Hank Haldeman will moderate.

The keynote speaker will be former NFL player Marcus Allen. The conference will also feature a guest appearance by LPGA player Annika Sorenstam at the Monday evening cocktail reception.
