CNA has appointed a new leader for its Boston operations, tapping an executive who was previously associated with a competitor.

Tom Allen has been named vice president of CNA’s Boston branch, effective January 02, 2018. In this role, he will be responsible for “leading the branch in cultivating deeper relationships with producers and accelerating CNA’s market presence in the Boston territory,” a release said.

Allen will report to CNA senior vice-president and Northeastern Zone officer Jim Romanelli.

“Tom is a proven leader with nearly three decades of industry experience and a strong knowledge of the Boston marketplace,” Romanelli commented. “His expertise in underwriting and portfolio management make him uniquely suited to lead the branch and will ensure we continue to build relationships and serve the needs of our local agents and brokers.”

Allen was previously with AIG’s property and casualty division, serving as a managing director for the Boston region. He has also held other leadership roles at AIG, including vice-president of business development, vice-president of field operations, vice-president and regional manager, and regional manager of national accounts.
