A Southeastern construction insurance carrier last month distributed a $1.6 million dividend to nearly 9,600 eligible workers’ compensation policyholders.

North Carolina-based Builders Mutual Insurance Company returned the dividend amidst a continued focus on jobsite safety and risk management. It is the 27th returned dividend in the past 31 eligible years, totaling more than $50 million, the company said.

“Our ability to consistently return a dividend is directly linked to the importance our policyholders place on jobsite safety and our continued financial stability as a company,” said Builders Mutual President and Chief Executive John Boggs.

“When your policyholders prevent injuries through education and training, they promote a culture of safety on their jobsites and in the construction industry. This positive safety culture helps employees stay safe, reduces employer expenses and increases policyholders’ opportunity to receive future dividend distributions.”

Eligible policyholders were those residing in Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee and Washington, D.C.

Builders Mutual added that the dividend return is “one way to recognize the strong results of our policyholders and our company.”

The insurance firm provides coverage to more than 19,000 policyholders through 4,000 sales agents.
