Erie Insurance of PA has been awarded with a perfect score of 100 percent in a workplace equality index administered by the Human Rights Campaign, the insurance firm said on Monday (November 23).
The multi-line insurance company received full marks in the Corporate Equality Index, which measures corporate policies and practices involving LGBT equality in the workplace. The 2016 edition, which is the 14th annual evaluation by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation, analyzed and rated 1,027 businesses based on non-discrimination protections, public engagement, domestic partner benefits, competency programs, and transgender-inclusive healthcare.
"Erie believes in The Golden Rule and in treating all people with dignity and respect. Our perfect score on the 2016 Corporate Equality Index is validation of our efforts to create an inclusive work environment," said Tesha Nesbit Arrington, who serves as Erie’s director of diversity and inclusion.
Erie has been previously cited by A.M. Best Company as the 11th largest homeowners’ insurance provider and 12th largest automobile insurance vendor in the U.S. based on direct premiums, as well as the 16th largest property-casualty insurer in the country based on total lines net premium.
